Maureen Graney is an experienced accounting professional with thirty years in the field. She holds a Finance degree from the Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington DC.
Maureen (she/her) began her career in high-volume, high-scrutiny Accounts Payable and intercompany receivables within an audited non profit environment. She has since served as a Finance Director and CFO, consistently innovating accounting services to enhance accuracy and improve client experiences.
Maureen worked as an accountant-deckhand on Greenpeace ships, where she participated as an international crew member in action for environmental change. This experience informs the interconnectedness of high functioning accounting to purpose that embodies Maureen’s professional effort.
While caring for her family, Maureen expanded her professional skills, particularly in active listening, open-ended questioning, and patience. She is well-versed in both legacy desktop accounting systems and modern software solutions, and is skilled at mapping transitions to get from one to the other.
Most recently, Maureen successfully onboarded accounting services for dozens of new clients over a five-year period, demonstrating her adaptability and leadership. She is communicative, anticipates next steps, and collaborates effectively to develop processes that achieve favorable outcomes.
Maureen resides in Northern California, Coastal Miwok and Southern Pomo Land, with and her two young adult children when they are home from school. Her personal interests include daily cycling, habitat gardening, herbs, basketball, and continued personal growth and well-being.
